Batch Oven

Direct-Fired Batch Ovens. SmartTouch Standard.

RTT Finishing Solutions designs and fabricates batch ovens for industrial liquid and powder coating cure applications, with a maximum operating temperature of 450°F. Each oven is built around an internal angle iron frame that supports prefabricated, interlocking 4-inch insulated panels – 20-gauge aluminized steel – for simplified field installation. A pretested direct-fired burner box assembly supplies heated air to ductwork routed through the side walls, which exits through “H” nozzles into the oven interior. Dedicated combustion and exhaust blowers maintain optimal airflow balance inside the enclosure, producing faster ramp-up times and shorter batch processing cycles compared to indirect or recirculation-only designs.

Every RTT batch oven ships with the SmartTouch Control Panel as standard. The 6-inch touchscreen gives operators access to four batch modes, a 1-second to 16-hour digital batch timer, a digital self-tuning temperature controller with high-temperature rollback protection, and a password-protected purge timer. The control panel arrives pre-wired to the burner box – the only field wiring required is the exhaust fan connection and the communication link between the main panel and touchscreen.

Standard batch ovens ship with dual entry doors. RTT also offers the AutoSeal metalized fabric roll-up door – designed for reduced energy consumption, easier operation, and improved operator convenience – as a premium door option. Working dimensions range from 6 feet wide by 7 feet tall by 12 feet deep up to 10 feet wide by 10 feet tall by 14 feet deep in standard configurations, with recirculating fan capacities from 5,202 SCFM to 12,075 SCFM. Every RTT batch oven complies with applicable OSHA and NFPA regulations.

  • Internal angle iron frame structure in all models
  • 20-gauge aluminized steel, 4-inch insulated interlocking panels
  • Slotted channel design reduces heat transfer at structural connections
  • Pre-tested direct-fired burner box assembly
  • Heated air distributed through side-wall ductwork and “H” nozzles
  • Dedicated combustion and exhaust blowers for optimal airflow balance
  • Recirculating fan: 5,202–12,075 SCFM depending on model (5 HP–10 HP)
  • Explosion relief doors with FM-approved latches
  • Standard dual entry doors; single entry also available
  • SmartTouch Control Panel standard: 6″ touchscreen; four batch modes; 1-second to 16-hour digital batch timer; digital self-tuning temperature controller; high-temperature limit with rollback protection; password-protected digital purge timer; pre-wired to burner box

Benefits

  • Reduce batch cycle times — the H-nozzle airflow design and dedicated combustion and exhaust blowers produce faster ramp-up times and more even heat distribution than indirect-fired alternatives.
  • Monitor and manage the oven from anywhere — SmartConnect app-based remote monitoring lets operators track oven parameters and receive alarm or cycle-completion notifications on a mobile device.
  • Simplify operator training — the SmartTouch 6-inch touchscreen provides intuitive access to batch modes, timers, alarms, programmable recipes, maintenance schedules, and diagnostics in one interface.
  • Reduce field installation time — the control panel arrives pre-wired to the burner box; only exhaust fan wiring and the panel-to-touchscreen communication link require field connection.
  • Track real-time part temperature during cure — the optional SmartBatch feature monitors actual part temperature, not just air temperature, enabling tighter process control.
  • Reduce energy loss at the door — the optional AutoSeal metalized fabric roll-up door is engineered specifically for reduced energy consumption during oven operation.
  • Scale the oven to your production — 21 standard working dimension configurations plus full custom engineering accommodate any facility or throughput requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions

LOC codes indicate specific safety or operational conditions detected by the control system:

• LOC 2: No establishment of flame within the safety time
• LOC 3: Air pressure fault
• LOC 4: Extraneous light detected
• LOC 5: Air pressure welded in working position
• LOC 6: Actuator fault
• LOC 7: Loss of flame

These alerts help protect the system and ensure proper burner performance.

This typically indicates a failed air switch.

Your system uses air switches on the combustion fan, recirculation fan, and exhaust fan.
If one of these switches does not provide airflow, the system returns to purge for safety.

Your oven should operate with gas pressure between 2 PSI and 5 PSI.
Pressures outside this range may affect burner performance or safety.

You can download temperature history directly from the Smart Control panel:

1. Open the Maintenance tab
2. Select Temperature History
3. Click Export
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to save the file

Proper gas pressure is critical for safe and reliable operation.

• Gas pressure must never exceed the maximum rating of the valve train regulator.
• Excess pressure can damage internal components or prevent the valve train from shutting off gas during a shutdown, creating a serious safety hazard.
• Too little pressure reduces burner BTU output and may cause low-gas safety faults.

Typical pressure ranges:
• Ovens: 2–5 PSI
